Calling all you funky people out there, those lovely heads over at Stones Throw wanna free the funk and who can blame them? In these horrible times what could be better than some F U N K to get us smiling again, and Stones Throw sista label Now-Again have plonked together seventeen gloriously funk-filled moments to get your ass a-shakin' and your body a-poppin'. There's some serious names here too - we've got J5's Cut Chemist, Koushik, Percee P, J Rocc, Egon and rather oddly house legends Kenny Dope (from Masters at Work) and Todd Terry (who once remixed Garbage), and surprisingly there aren't any duds. The idea for these tracks is that they are new takes on funk originals and that's what we get, fresh chop-ups whether with rapping or not, and it proves that there's still life in the old genre yet. There's simply nothing left to do except enjoy the show.... Funky, baby.
