Chart Prediction: Top 75 NOMINATED in BEST GROUP category of URBAN MUSIC AWARDS ’UK Urban albums to look out for’ in Music Week 2 page Mobo feature ‘Probably their best and most commercially viable work to date, this is a sterling mix of hard grime vocals over a reworking of garage, pop, soul, ska, indie and funky house beats’ MUSIC WEEK ‘A great London album that strides purposefully over everything from house to hip hop to an album closing acoustic number’ PLAN B review ‘Where that last album was a muddled and seemingly forced attempt at a dalliance with pop, this sees the crew focus on molesting genres on their own terms, accessorising them with sharp energy and the same sense of confident, cheeky fun that glittered so hard on ‘Wearing My Rolex’.These are 12 tracks of lean goodness; 12 dozen addictive hooks’ EVENING STANDARD live review ‘an eclectic, ever-rotating, multi-racial posse .. The chirpy Do Me Wrong, underpinned by a beat similar to that which propelled Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk’s Love Can’t Turn Around, featured the sweet vocals of Janee and the sense that the mainstream could be theirs once more’ 7 out of 10 in Vice magazine ‘tracks like ‘Give Up’ and the brilliant ‘Nightlife’ are more than enough’ DAILY STAR 29/8/08 ‘Grime ace Wiley has recorded a new album with his crew Roll Deep. Not content with his No. 2 hit Wearing My Rolex’ dominating the charts for yonks, the 29 year-old has been working on The Return Of The Big Money Sound’. 3/5 in RWD ‘definately worth a buy’ ’Return of the big money Sound’ is exactly what it says on the packaging. Roll Deep are back with their second main studio album, on their own label, Roll Deep Recordings. The album marks the end of an 18 month break since their last offering, the street album ’Rules and Regulations. Since having had great success with their debut, ’In at the deep end’, which spawned two top twenty hits in 2005, the east London collective have grown immensely especially musically. Mastering their very own Uk urban sound, the grime maesto’s have experimented with new sounds on this album, from dance, electro, ska, and even an acoustic track. Of course, Roll Deep have not forgotten their grime roots with some big bass bangers on the album aswell. With production from Target, Danny weed, Wiley, and bless beats, ’Return of the Big Money Sound’ is a must buy! LABEL PROFILE Roll Deep recordings is the independently owned label for The london collective.
