CLASSIC
The fourth release in Hospitals "Classic Symptoms" series. Giving both recent converts to the Hospital sound as well as avid collectors the opportunity to delve deep into the NHS archive and pull out some of the more underground masterpieces from the catalogue as well as dust down the classics and propel them back into the ears of a whole new generation of junglists. A real treat is in store here on volume four of the series, as we present to you High Contrast’s first ever released works - available here, together for the first time. Both tracks were signed from the now legendary minidisc demo handed over to London Elektricity in Cardiff way back when. "Suddenly" was the euphoric filtered disco dnb nugget which arguably changed the face of the genre. At a time when D&B was an entirely po-faced operation dominated by moody blokes in puffa jackets and baggy combat trousers along came High Contrast and turned it on its head. A whole host of "disco d&b" imitators followed but never managed to capture High Contrast’s unique vibe. On the flip "What’s the Story?" was High Contrast’s very first vinyl outing - coming on one side of a sampler 12" for the Plastic Surgery2 LP, this is the tune which lifted the lid on the genius of High Contrast. A playful little number, with cheeky film vocals and squelchy key loops - lightening up the mood of D&B ,and bringing the girls back to d&b dancefloors. These two tunes work just as well today as they did back then. Don’t Sleep!
