There seems to be something eminently remixable about Jamie Woon's delicate soulful vocals - his breakthrough single "Night Air" was rewired with brilliant results by Ramadanman, Deadboy and Becoming Real. It's certainly this winning combination of excellent song writing and eye for impressive remix commissions that has added more than a dash of expectation to Woon's forthcoming debut album Mirrorwriting. Preceding that is "Lady Luck" which the original's Burial-produced sultry melange of uptempo sonic bumps supplemented by three mighty remixes. The mysterious Royce Wood Jnr delivers a sweet retwix that's filled with brilliant elastic touches and also lifts Woon's vocals out of the sonic gloom - the resultant product is akin to early Jamie Lidell. Continuing the theme of oddly named remixes that sound totally unique to the source, Hudson Mohawke opens the B Side with the "Schmink Wolf Re-fix" filled with the kind of click clack percussion and overt synth drama that Timbaaland can only dream of these days. Debruit ends the set on a high with a bouncy treatment driven by jet streams of 26th century neon boogie synths and polyrhythmic programming.
