With a solid reputation for releasing the freshest new Dubstep cemented in 2006, Dub Police go from strength to strength in ’07. Hot off the back of the debut release by Leeds badman, Distinction, DP008 sees North West London’s The Others step up with 3 killer riddims, each representing a different element of The Others’ style. The Others are Dexterous and D-Code who met at the world famous Vestax DJ Academy where shared musical tastes brought them into the studio together. D-Code came from a dark garage, jungle and dnb background, whilst Dexterous followed Dub step from its roots of UK Garage. Combining these influences has made them one of the most exciting new acts in Dubstep today. Africa comes with a foreboding intro before the bass drops and tremors, rolls and throbs. A premier exposition of maximum impact half step. The snare snaps and smacks you round the face before punishing big belly bass ramps in. Africa sees The Others bringing the heat. Notorious for forgetting the names of his dubs, N-Type helped The Others christen Flapjack Dub after rambling on about his love for his Nan’s flapjacks live on Rinse FM! A hard skank inducing wobbler, Flapjack Dub is one for the heads down, jump up gang and absolutely certified to get dance floors brockin’. Bushido with its epic, eastern strings and gnarly rolling bass is already a Dubstep anthem: a ‘lighters out’, ‘pull dat up’ monster of a tune. The track creates a spine tingling and un-nerving atmosphere; ominous yet uplifting. Bushido is an essential cut which highlights the creative diversity in the genre of Dubstep.
