***12inch + CD***
Atmosphere. in a sense, it is the spirit inherit within all great music. It can belong to the most brash banger as much as the most subdued soundscape. It is this element, on each side of the coin, that piques all's attention once it hits the soundsystem. It is thus, quite mysterious when subtlety becomes, through its atmosphere, as overwhelming of an element as one could imagine, on ether side of the coin.
DJG, a long time resident of the San Francisco area, and current resident of the area known as Lower Haight, has yet to commit an artifact of this sound to his permanent record this is not a clear example of absolute austere atmosphere and pronounced, pointed class. One could say he has a svelte discography to date, but as with any great artist, anyone versed in the sound involved, and thus had heard the works gets an immediate mental picture once thinking of the titles. "Shadow Skanking". "Buena Vista". "Ghost Town". Those who know, know what we are referring to here.
The same can be said of "The Gate" a Indian tinged builder with its multitude of low frequency elemental interplay, and "Obsessed" a gradual progression of melodic beauty on par with the psych rock geniuses of the 70's, had they possessed such a toolkit. These are further examples of pieces of a singular in nature sound created by the one known as DJG that leave an instant memory imprint upon the listener.
LoDubs is pleased to welcome DJG to the fold, and in doing so, add two more distict mental pictures of sound to the world.
