PART 2 Having recently issued their first album for Playlouderecordings, last year’s critically acclaimed ‘A Remix Selection’, which featured ten of their finest remixes from artists as diverse as Rammstein and The Rapture, Black Strobe return in the form of the ‘Shining Bright Star EP’. A ‘Phones Industrial Mix’ of the track was originally released last year as a limited edition 12” vinyl which turned the track into a deviant 80s brute of a tune, but now the original gets a full release. So what can we expect this time? Produced by Paul Epworth (Bloc Party) and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), ‘Shining Bright Star’ is a mass of dark, gothic, electronic twists and huge basslines. With Arnaud taking on lead vocal duties, Black Strobe have created what can only be described as an acid house disco-punk anthem. ‘Shining Bright Star’ is available with extra tracks and a host of mind-bending remixes. The band’s debut artist album is due in the summer. limited
