There must be something about living in hot countries which encourages DJs to power up the booty factor. The sound originated in the US sunshine state of Florida, after all. The Baymont Bross hail from Andalucia in southern Spain, and have been throwing down regular dancefloor bombs on labels like Mofo Records,IllEven Eleven and their own Pooty Club imprint for a number of years. High time, then, that they came to the attention of Rat Records, and DNA is a startling debut. Blending raw, low-slung beats with the summery, Latin vocal of MC GI and some gorgeous electric piano, this one sounds like it should be dropped at a rave in the favelas of Rio or Sao Paulo, the sweat dripping off the walls as clubbers whirl like dervishes in the evening heat. On the flip, the Baymonts' own Brasil Booty mix ramps up the south American flavour to even greater levels, also throwing in a sampled break for extra energy and ravey cool. Meanwhile, Audio Stalkers turn in a ghetto house effort which will keep fans of 4:4 beats more than happy. This is a landmark release for Rat Records: something genuinely new and fresh, yet with that trademark booty vibe which all tracks on this legen
